You can modify any aspect of a portfolio.  To modify a portfolio:


    1. Select the portfolio in the TakeStock Explorer, click the Portfolio button and select Edit from the drop-down menu.
      - or -
      Right-click the portfolio in the TakeStock Explorer and select Edit from the pop-up menu.

    2. The Edit Portfolio window appears.

    3. Select the General tab.


      Here you can:
      • Rename the portfolio.
      • Move the portfolio to a different folder.
      • Add or change the comment associated with this portfolio.

    1. Select the Precision tab.


Here you can change how this portfolio's numeric information is displayed.  You can choose the number of decimal places used to display:

      • cash amounts
      • share quantities


Regardless of the display precision chosen, share quantities and cash amounts are always stored internally with a high degree of precision.


    1. Select the Advanced tab.



Here you can select:

      • Whether a new position's purchase price should be automatically deposited into the portfolio prior to purchase, thereby ensuring the portfolio's cash balance never becomes negative.
      • Whether positions can be purchased even if the portfolio doesn't contain sufficient cash.
      • Whether the portfolio should differentiate between short- and long-term capital gains, and if so, the number of days a position must be held in order to be considered a long-term hold.
      • The amount of margin debt owed.


    1. When you have finished making changes, click OK.
