Viewing a portfolio
To view a portfolio, select it in the TakeStock Explorer.
The contents of the portfolio are displayed in the portfolio view which contains five tabs:
- Held displays the portfolio's held (i.e. currently owned) positions.
- Sold displays the portfolio's sold positions.
- Transactions displays the events (e.g. stock purchases, dividend distributions, stock sales, etc.) that have occurred in this portfolio.
- Snapshots displays the portfolio's historical values that have been captured over time.
- Comments displays comments associated with the portfolio.
Held tab
By default, the Held tab displays the portfolio's current market value. To choose a different view, click the view selector and select a view from the drop-down menu. TakeStock 2 includes the following standard views for held positions. You can also select the built-in Custom view (that you can modify) and create your own views.
- Current market value
- Current market value (stressed)
- Unrealized gain
- Unrealized gain (including dividends)
To sort the view, click a column header. Almost all columns can be sorted.
The Held tab's summary pane shows the portfolio's total current value, day change, unrealized gain and margin information.
Sold tab
By default, the Sold tab displays the portfolio's realized gain. TakeStock 2 includes the following set of standard views for sold positions. You can also select the built-in Custom view (that you can modify) and create your own views.
- Realized gain
- Realized gain (including dividends)
The Sold tab's summary pane shows the portfolio's short-term, long-term and total capital gains, the total net sale proceeds and fees paid, and the change in value of investments following their sale.
